Haunted Soy Candle (peach nectar and lilac)

$19.90   $19.90

Fragrance notes: peach nectar and lilac

The American South is known for many things, one of which is the wealth of ghost stories that have been passed from generation to generation. With its unfortunate history of war, oppression, disease, and tragedy, it shouldn't be a surprise that remnants of tortured souls have remained after death.

Haunted is inspired by the abundance of spooky tales of Southern hauntings. The base of this fragrance is an iconic fruit of the South: peach! The aroma of fresh peach nectar is mouth-wateringly sweet, luscious, and fruity. The fragrant floral top note of lilac gives this peach fragrance a well-rounded and grounded vibe. Lilac was chosen for this fragrance to refer to a ghost story from West Virginia that I particularly love, The Telltale Lilac Bush (read below). Bring your favorite Southern ghost stories to life with this Haunted candle!

Learn more about my inspiration:

The Telltale Lilac Bush is story of an old man and woman who had marital problems for years. One day, the wife went missing. People suspected the old man had killed her, but without a body, they couldn't prove anything. The old man began living a boisterous life, and during one of his parties, a group of young men were sitting on his porch talking when the large lilac bush growing nearby began beating on the windowpane next to them. There was no breeze that day, so they felt that the bush was acting almost as if it were beckoning them. Ignoring the old man's protests, the young men dug up the lilac bush. They were stunned when the roots were found to be growing from the palm of a woman's hand. The old man screamed and ran down the hill toward the river, never to be seen again.

This story comes from a collection of ghost stories published by Ruth Ann Musick called The Telltale Lilac Bush and Other West Virginia Ghost Tales
